Do you think God ever gets exasperated with us trying to tell Him what to do and how to do it?
We always want things our way. Done our way and when we want them. We want to be in control of everything. We think we know so much more than God.
Imagine having to stand before God and answer the following.
“Who is this that obscures my plans with words without knowledge?
Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me.
“Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?
Tell me, if you understand!
Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know!
Who stretched a measuring line across it?
On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone
while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?
“Who shut up the sea behind doors when it burst forth from the womb, when I made the clouds its garment and wrapped it in thick darkness, when I fixed limits for it and set its doors and bars in place, when I said, ‘This far you may come and no farther; here is where your proud waves halt’?
“Have you ever given orders to the morning, or shown the dawn its place, that it might take the earth by the edges
and shake the wicked out of it?
The earth takes shape like clay under a seal; its features stand out like those of a garment.
The wicked are denied their light, and their upraised arm is broken.
“Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea or walked in the recesses of the deep?
Have the gates of death been shown to you?
Have you seen the gates of the deepest darkness?
Have you comprehended the vast expanses of the earth?
Tell me, if you know all this.
“What is the way to the abode of light? And where does darkness reside? Can you take them to their places?
Do you know the paths to their dwellings?
Surely you know all of this, for you were already born!
You have lived so many years!
How well do you think we could withstand such a grilling? What right do we have to whine and complain when we have no idea what God has planed for us. God has a reason and a time for all He does. And we can not fully understand His ways. We need to use the faith He gave us and trust in Him. After all He created everything and everything is His. (Yes that means us!)
When we do as we please and say “this is what God wants me to do”, without Him having told us to do it, we put ourselves above God. And when we try to change God’s word to make it fit our actions, again we sin against God.
God has a plan for us, a plan for our good, to have us prosper and grow. If we are wise we will seek His council and follow His word.
If we get ourselves out of God’s way and let Him have control over our lives, great blessings will flow.
