Do Not Be Deceived

Listen and I will speak things of old;

Of the hidden thing our ancestors told.

Do not be deceived by the evil one,

He is the father of lies turn and run.


Don’t be tempted by the evil you see;

And do not say, “God is tempting me.”

Do we not see what is wrong or right?

They are not hidden from our sight.


Tell all your descendants His story,

of His praiseworthy deeds and His glory.

We know the power of God’s own Son;

Tell the next generation what He has done.


The God our fathers served, we serve,

And so our children’s children so deserve.

He is the Mighty God of all creation;

And we are called to be His holy nation.


His promises are faithful and true;

He is our source to see us through.

He is our strength so we may turn away,

When the evil one sets traps in our way.


Tell our children so they do not despair,

But go to the Lord in petition and prayer.

The foe we face is cunning and vile,

He tries to entice us to sin with a smile.
