(John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.)
Peace, it seems to mean different things to different people.
Our world seems to be filled with constant turmoil, violence, bloodshed and killing. Not only are countries warring against each other but our children are as well.
In our homes we teach violence and hate. Thinking only of ourselves we honor no promises and show no love for one another. By our willingness to hurt someone we take whatever we want; at the point of a gun our egos grow. But where is our peace?
Who stole that treasure from us? How could it be?
It was a gift no one could steal.
Lord, I don’t think I’m all that;
I’m not proud I will not talk back.
I don’t look for what is not mine,
I wait as you bless me in your time.
Inside myself quiet and calm grew,
As more and more of your word I knew.
As the Spirit grew within all the more,
So too peace grew within forevermore.
Even as war rages without I have peace within.
