(2 Timothy 3:16-17)
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
If we agree that all scripture comes from God, inspired by God, then we have a starting point. I believe that all the scripture does come from God, even the parts I struggle with.
The Bible, God’s own word, is our most valuable treasure.
It is a love letter from our heavenly Father and a sourcebook for our lives.
If we are Christians then why should we need to read and study the Bible daily?
Because the Bible reveals, refreshes and renews our hearts and minds.
God reveals to us His great Love and His presence in our lives. He shows us that He wants what is best for us. And He reveals His will and purpose for our lives. When we read the Bible on a daily basis our lives will improve, His blessings will become obvious and His presence will be revealed.
God’s word refreshes us when we are tired and weak. Our day to day lives take a toll on our minds and bodies. We need time to rest and recharge. We find comfort as we spend time with God in His word we are strengthened by His promises and refreshed by His Spirit. His word equips us with what we need to face our day; the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. When we stand firm on the word of God we have the power of God to reject sin.
Reading, hearing and studying God’s word renews our hearts and minds. Studying His word makes clear to us the truth of His word. It corrects our unwise thoughts and opens our hearts to His perfect love. His commands are radiant, giving light to the path we should follow. His word changes our desires from self-seeking to God-seeking. And He will then fan the flames of our spirit’s desire.
The result of daily reading and meditating on God’s word,
Is we grow and prosper. Able to stand strong and bold against the challenges of the world.
We are His children and we should know our Father’s will and ways.
But don’t just take my word for it; read it for yourself that you may know and approve God’s good and pleasing work.
