Seeking Peace

Our self indulgent nature, (s.i.n.), is always in conflict with God. It is only when we have been justified through faith that we have peace with God through Christ.

We know the turmoil of the constant unrelenting struggle our sin brings. It is only by the forgiveness found in Christ that we can be freed from it, and know peace.

Sin is a slippery slope that labors to dark us down to the dark pit. Oh it’s pretty and enticing; it’s pleasing to the eye and sweet to the ear. This tempting of the heart and flesh is from the evil one to divert our focus from our source. Do not heed its sirens song, but in all hast turn and flee.

Where, some may ask, will we be able to find the strength to resist and turn from such a powerful snare? We turn to our true source, the most powerful power of all, God. Seek strength in prayer, study and meditation of His word. He will show us not only how to overcome but also give us the strength.

We have become one with Christ through our baptism; one with Him in death and one with Him in life. We died to sin that we may live with Him. We no longer seek our self indulgent nature, but seek His will. And if we are seeking His will how then can we sin? And if by some chance we should happen to sin, we need not be grieved but rejoice for we are forgiven. While we were still in our sin filled ways Christ came and paid the price in full with His suffering, His blood and death.

Our Father is a gracious Father, His love knows no bounds. He saw the depths of our sin and sent His own Son to be the sacrifice for a debt we could not pay.

It was the Son that brought to us His mercy, His forgiveness; not because we deserved it, but because He loved us.

He left His Holy Spirit to dwell with us that we may forever have a guide and counselor to show us the way.

If we are to have peace in our lives, we need to seek the source. Seek and we shall find the answers in His word.
